  • Bags 2 School

    Fri 28 Feb 2020
The recent collection of ‘Bags 2 School’ recycling bags was a great success with £148 raised for PTA funds. The PTA are arranging another collection soon so you are welcome to drop further bags into school from next week.
  • Kenyan School Twinning

    Fri 28 Feb 2020

It was lovely to welcome Becky Lynn who joined us for collective worship on Tuesday morning after returning from her travels in Kenya. We are really pleased that Becky has established a link for us with Mindililwo Primary School whilst she was there. Becky took some letters which our children had written to the pupils as well as some friendship bracelets which the children had made. She brought in an envelope full of letters which the Mindililwo pupils had written for us so the junior children now have a penpal too! During collective worship, the children were shown a series of photographs and videos which Becky had taken when she visited the school a few weeks ago. The children were pretty amazed to find out that it costs 37,000 Kenyan shillings to install electricity which in pounds sterling is only £274.75!

Our Collective Worship Theme this half term is:
    ‘Generosity’

Our collective worship theme this half term is ‘Generosity’ and in keeping with this value, the school council are keen to help Mindililwo by aiming to raise the full amount themselves. They will be writing to parents in due course to ask for your help with their fundraising ideas!

    Coronavirus update

As many of you will have already heard, there has been a reported case of Coronavirus in a Derbyshire primary school this week. We have been advised to publish information on our school website and to put up posters in school. The children have also been reminded about the importance of effective handwashing. You may find the following links helpful and we will keep you up to date of any further updates as and when they become available.

  • Welcome!

    Fri 07 Feb 2020
We are very lucky to have such a caring and experienced staff team here at Pilsley and I’m delighted to welcome Mrs Jackie Greenhough as a regular supply teacher to our school. Mrs Greenhough used to teach for many years at Pilsley and is an IT specialist. She is teaching computing and online safety in Classes 2 and 3 on a Wednesday afternoon and the children are really enjoying her lessons. Mrs Greenhough is also covering in other classes when staff are absent.
We also welcome Miss Rebecca Dronfield to Class 2 who is starting her teaching placement with us next term. Miss Isobel Ayling and Miss Lottie Wood are also volunteering for us in EYFS/KS1 next term too which is great news!
  • Term time holiday requests

    Fri 07 Feb 2020
As you are aware, Headteachers cannot authorise leave of absence for pupils during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Parents should make an application to the school, well in advance, if they wish to make an application for leave of absence during term time. Penalty notices may be issued by the Local Authority if absences have not been authorised at a cost of £120 per parent, per child.
Welcome to our school website. We are a 3-11 year old school and have our own nursery. Please call to book a visit on 01246 583203
