The school day starts at 8:50am and finishes at 3:15pm. Doors open at 8:40. Registration is at 8.55am. If your child arrives after 9:00am they will be marked as late. The school day ends at 3:15pm.
Collective Worship
At 9:05 all pupils from Reception to Year 6 join together for collective worship. From time to time visitors will join us and lead our worship.
Morning Playtimes
At 10.30am, infant children have a 15 minute break. The infant children are given a free healthy snack of fruit or vegetables. The junior children have their break at 10.45 for 15 minutes. They are welcome to bring in fruit, cereal bars or vegetables from home to eat at break time.
Lunch
Children in Reception, Y1 and Y2 have their lunch together at 12:00 and then go outside at 12:30pm to play. Children in Y3 – Y6 go outside from 12:00 – 12:30 and then have their lunch. Lunchtimes for all end at 1.00pm.
Drop-off and collection
At the beginning of the school day, parents are welcomed onto the playground to drop off their children under staff supervision. This enables independence for all children in organising their own belongings and also allows a swift and non-disruptive start to our school day. At the end of the day, junior children are collected from the playground and infant parents collect children from their classroom entrance. Staff are available at the end of each day for parents to speak to- we endeavour to have good links with all our parents and carers. If normal arrangements have to be altered (e.g. you are delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know as soon as possible. This avoids any confusion or upset.
Getting to School
To get to and from school, walking is definitely the healthiest and most preferred option although for many of our families this is not practical. Many of our children come from outside our catchment area but we encourage families to 'car share' wherever possible. For those children living in the estate villages of Pilsley, Edensor and Beeley, the Chatsworth Estate provides a free bus service that picks up children from Beeley and Edensor. If you do need to travel by car, please park considerately in the village and away from the zig-zag lines outside school and resident's driveways. Also, please note that the road near school is a 30mph zone – occasionally Derbyshire Police monitor the speed of motorists entering and leaving the village.
