Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
We are very excited to be taking the Y6 children away to Dukes Barn on 18th-19th July! The children will be canoeing on Chesterfield canal as well as taking part in a range of sports and team building exercises in preparation for their transition to secondary school.
In September, the Y4/Y5/Y6 children will be taking part in a residential visit to Lea Green with Mrs Bond, Mrs Townsend and Mrs Smail. We can't wait! I'm sure we will make some very happy memories that the children will cherish for many years to come..
We are all extremely proud of Niamh’s fundraising efforts for Arthritis UK after the Y6 Flash Mob in March. Niamh raised a very impressive £75 for the charity and this has now been paid into the charity’s account. We are always immensely proud of all the children at Pilsley when they achieve something, whether that be at home or at school. Niamh was very clear that the money which she raised went to people who really needed extra support once they had been diagnosed with arthritis. We highly commend her efforts and on behalf of Niamh and her family, we would like to thank all those who were able to contribute.
The ECO area is looking so much better with the arrival of our new polytunnel! Mrs Field has asked for any donations of ‘bee friendly’ seedlings for us to plant around the school. Please could you bring these in as soon as possible. Thank you.
We would like to invite our Pilsley families to take part in ‘Help a South African School Competition 2016’, organized by the South African fruit industry and growers association, HORTGRO. The aim of this competition is to encourage British children to learn about South Africa, whilst helping underprivileged farm and rural schools. As part of the project, we are entering a competition to create a collage to represent ‘A Taste of South African Fruit’.
Illiteracy is a big problem in South Africa and their schools are in desperate need of resources. As part of our ECO work and fundraising efforts in school, we would like to ask families to donate any unwanted English language text and reading books in support of the above. Any donations will be gratefully received by schools in South Africa, whose access to educational resources is extremely limited. Please bring any books into the school office by Wednesday 25th May. Thank you.
