Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Y3 and Y4 children took part in a dodgeball tournament yesterday in Bakewell and they really enjoyed it! Their behaviour was excellent and it was lovely to see them interacting so well with children from other local schools. Out of all the schools that attended, our school was awarded the Sports games award of 'Honesty' at the end of the tournament which was a wonderful reflection of their sportsmanship as a whole. The children were really excited to receive a trophy for their efforts too- well done everyone!

Children in need

On Friday 18th November, we have a non-uniform day in support of Children in Need. Our school council representatives have suggested that a donation of £1 is made in order to support this good cause. There is an option to donate which is set up in Parent Pay. Our junior children will still have their PE sessions on Friday afternoon so please make sure they are wearing trainers/appropriate footwear as part of the non-uniform day.

We are also holding a bake sale at the end of the school day on Friday so we would be very grateful of any baking/cake/biscuit donations which the school council can sell in the outdoor classroom at the end of the school day. If these could be brought in on Friday morning, it would be very much appreciated. If all home baked goods could be labelled please with a list of ingredients to accommodate anyone with any allergies, that would be great.

If any bus children would like to visit the bake sale before they go home, please send them in with some money on Friday morning. Thank you.

New teaching students in school

On Monday, we welcome two primary teaching students from Sheffield Hallam university into the infants as they begin their teaching placement with us. Miss Beecroft and Miss Salt will be in school for two weeks from 14th November and will then return for another two weeks straight after the Christmas break. They will both then begin their block placement at the end of February and stay with us for a month. I'm sure the children will welcome them into their class and we look forward to working with them both.

Finally, if you would like to attend one of the services of Remembrance in Pilsley, Edensor and Beeley this weekend, the times are as follows:

Pilsley- 10.15am

Edensor church- 10.50am

Beeley church- 3pm

Wishing you a lovely weekend,

Mrs E Bond
