Music Tuition

Learning an instrument

Providing instrument tuition is a popular way in which we enrich our curriculum, whether it’s part of our standard curriculum or as an extra-curricular activity. Children perform at least twice a year as a school in our regular music/drama productions. The children are very lucky to be able to perform at the Cavendish Hall on a real stage! Recent productions of ours include:  Cinderella Rockerfella, Peter Pan and Matilda Jr.

We are really fortunate to have peripatetic music teachers who work within school; Mr Usher teaches violin, Mrs Bower teaches piano, and Mr Cutler teaches Guitar.

The age at which children are able to start to learn depends upon the instrument and the developmental stage of the child. As a rough guide, most of our music teaching begins around Y1. We actively encourage our children to get involved with music in a variety of ways throughout the school.

If your child would like to play an instrument,  or join the school choir please let us know in the office and we’ll speak to the teacher concerned and make sure that your child’s name is on a waiting list if places are not immediately available.  If you would like any further information about music tuition, please contact the office for more details. We are also able to signpost families to external pathways to further develop a child's playing / singing, please ask for details.
