Invasion
This term, the children have been learning all about Anglo-Saxon houses and how they were built using wattle and daub — a mix of woven sticks and mud! In Design and Technology, they put their skills to the test by designing and creating their own model Anglo-Saxon homes. As part of their History work, they researched how Anglo-Saxon people lived and discovered some fascinating facts. For example, they found out that most houses had just one room with a fire in the middle for cooking and warmth, and that roofs were often made from straw or reeds. They were also surprised to learn that families sometimes shared their homes with animals to keep warm! Here are some photos showing their fantastic models and all the hard work that went into making them.
