Outdoor learning with Bolton Abbey Class

The children in Bolton Abbey Class have regular opportunities to explore learning outside. Our classroom has direct access to a fabulous outdoor area which the children love to use to build creations with loose parts and explore mixing and concocting in the mud kitchen area. Whenever possible, we take our learning outside to make connections to the local environment and explore ideas on a larger, more exciting scale. On Wednesday afternoons, the children visit the local Pilsley Woods for Forest school activities learning about the seasons, the trees, plants and animals that live there and building deep connections to the environment over the school year. Children enjoy the opportunities to enjoy storytelling, hands-on exploration, investigation, and discovery, stimulating their curiosity and creativity.
