Gods and Mortals!
This term Class 3 will be learning about the gods and mortals of Ancient Greece.
We will be composing a diary, as if we were actually a god, writing instructions for Pandora's Box and delving into the wonderful world of Myths and Legends! As well as these exciting English tasks, we will also be doing lots of other writing linked to our history and geography. We are writing gods and goddesses!
In Maths Year 3 will be counting, comparing and ordering and looking for patterns in numbers to 1000 then we will begin to look at addition and subtraction. Year 4 will be counting, comparing and ordering, looking for patterns and rounding numbers to 10 000 then we will begin to look at addition and subtraction.
In Art and Design Technology we will be researching, designing and sculpting our own head of a Greek God or Goddess as well as producing a scene for a Greek vase or plate. We will also be designing and making a set of wings for Icarus to save him from falling to his death!
In Computing we will select, use and combine a range of software, including internet services, to design a range of content enabling us to collect, analyse, evaluate and present data for a target audience.
In Science we are taking inspiration from Zeus' lightning bolts and learning all about light.
This theme will also come into RE as we discuss people of God and the Hindu celebration of Diwali.
In PE with Mrs Townsend we will be doing dance work linked to our topic including battle formations and a celebration of joining the God's Council!
In citizenship our main focus will be the discussion of conflict and the resolution of differences.
Viola lessons will take place every Thursday afternoon.
