PTA spending

Spending!!!!

Spending is agreed at PTA meetings, the headteacher has a wish list, and the PTA committee like to say yes to funding items which are used across the school.  Sometimes, we say yes, but the item might be bought using other funding resources.  Sometimes, we make other suggestions, but usually we say yes!   Suffice to say, the £2-£4000 the PTA raises a year is vitally important, and much appreciated by everyone even if they don't know it!  The PTA is currently progressing a planting scheme for the old nursery bed by the entrance to the school . . . with a snake in it.  Keep you eyes peeled for information on the school gate noticeboard.

We try to keep the PTA pages on the school website are up to date . . . especially before and after the next event . . .

PTA Plans:

The PTA are excited to be part of the next phase of Pilsley C of E School's life under the headship of Mrs Bond.  Fundraising is always big part of the PTA, but this year we particularly want to help build on Mrs Bond's vision for the school to be a strong and important part of the community and vice versa.  We intend to organise a programme of varied events, some are fund raising, some are silly and fun, and some are social, to help us bond under Bond!

We have had some wonderful suggestions ranging from pig racing (no real livestock involved), auctions of promises, an evening with a highly recommended family entertainer, to camping on the school field.  What would you like to do?

We've sent out a questionnaire asking for families' preferences (and ideas, skills, raffle prize contacts) and we will be collating the responses to see if it will be pigs or camping or something else entirely . . .!  If you have not completed a form, please download one from the PTA minutes page and return it to the office or by email. (These were taken off the website at end of half term June 2016.)

But fundraising is still an important part of the PTA.  Despite its wonderful surroundings and the help we receive from Chatsworth and the Church, our school faces an extremely challenging budget. As parents, we all want our children to have the best possible education; the PTA raises funds to support those activities. Over the last few years we have:

  • Bought laptops
  • Funded the new school website
  • Funded an improved playground layout and equipment;
  • Helped to fund the trip to France in 2014;
  • Contributed to the build costs for Classroom 2;
  • Funds craft supplies in each classroom;
  • Organise events like the School disco that the children enjoy

We always need to raise money because either there is an urgent need to help with a major item, or there are MANY little things which will really enrich our children's lives at Pilsley C of E School. At the most recent PTA meeting on 15 April 2016, Mrs Bond was asked what the school needs, and she replied that she had a wish list but she was also asking the staff for their wishlists first, so watch this space . . .

Come along to our lively meetings , contact us via Facebook or have a chat with one of us and help decide what we do to fund raise, and what the money should be spent on.
