Time: Doors open 6.30pm. Auction starts 7pm til late.
Venue: Cavendish Hall with bar (no food)
Roll up! Roll up! What can you bid on?!
This event comes highly recommended from Young Farmers and could be a fun annual event. There will be a professional auctioneer leading the market . . . What can you bid on? It depends what people bring along, it might be a turnip, it might be 6 bottles of wine, it might be a tin of custard, it might be a baby-sitting voucher, it might be just what you wanted . . . !
THERE IS A LIST OF SUITABLE ITEMS ON THE SCHOOL GATE NOTICEBOARD.
So it is very important that you have a clear-out during the summer or keep your eyes peeled on your travels or put your thinking caps on as to what you or your contacts can offer . . . you never know . . . we've put everything else in place for a fun evening - just give us some stuff and bring along your wallet. Free to attend. Open to everyone in the world.
Second Hand Uniform Sale (£57.10 raised Jan - Apr 2017!)
Time: tbc We try to do this at least once every half term
Venue: tbc Wherever is convenient
Second hand school uniform is available to buy at most PTA events (not Pilsley Village Fair) £1 an item.
We aim to sell it from nursery after school the last week of each half-term (unless sold on other dates through the term) , and we can probably attend to emergency requirements.
Contact Marie Allinson if you want to buy uniform on another date, to arrange something mutually convenient!

Pilsley Village Fair - Saturday 14 July 2018 tbc
Venue: Village Green
50 years ago, funded by the Pilsley youth group which had just naturally folded, Pilsley Village Fair was revived by two ladies with drive - one pub landlady and one enthuastic teacher. Refreshments were served in the school hall, staffed by people from village and school. All profits from all parts of the Fair went in the same pot, and were divided as agreed by the committee, including some for the school.
Several years ago, it was agreed by all that the school would concentrate on the refreshments only, staffed by governors, staff and parents, and thereafter the proceeds/profits from the refreshments.
In recent years, commitment from governor/staff/parental help has been slow at coming forward, to the point that in 2017, on the 50th anniversary of its revival, the Village Fair committee served refreshments from a garden after offering the school PTA a marquee from which to serve refreshments on the green.
From 2018, it is likely that Pilsley Village Fair will continue to serve cream teas from the green somewhere, and the school still be involved, for example would the school representatives like to serve a barbecue type hot food?
Does anyone have any good ideas?
Thursday 23rd August 2018 - Pilsley Fell Race
A joyful event, full of camraderie and good sportsmanship (especially if it rains!) Worth coming for the spectacle! Those who marshal, really enjoy it and are very happy to do it again the following year.
Time: 6pm - 8.30pm
Venue: Pilsley village green and 6 mile route around Chatsworth Park
If you want to run it: see www.facebook.com/PilsleyFellRace
If you want to help marshal (please do): Please contact Ben Hanbury, Official Race Organiser*
NOTE: Local male and Local female prizes available and for this race local is defined as living or working on Chatsworth Estate, or parent of a pupil at Pilsley School.
(Only cancelled if a thunderstorm.)
Revived 2015: 100 runners £440 raised paid for the Christmas tree on the village green, and part repair of the school clock.
2016: (Bad weather!) 193 runners x £5 entry fee, only £20 expenses (thanks to race makers, cake bakers, Front Runner (numbers), Peak Ales (prizes), Devonshire Arms (donated first aid cover), Chatsworth (equipment loan) and farmers for letting us through their fields and especially moving their livestock.
2017: 255 runners raised £1080 profit from school - all wonderful prizes donated, and numbers donated.2018: Expect even more runners if nice weather! At the time of writing this (26 Aug 2017) it is understood there is a move from Pilsley Parish Meeting, Pilsley Farm Shop, PIlsley Devonshire Arms and Pilsley School to have a defribrillator somewhere accessible in the village and a successful fell race could pay for this (they are expensive).
